The main surf season runs from April-November the Roaring Forties send plenty of 6-12ft (2-4m) swells through April-November ( High Season ). The SSW direction is ideal for our SW facing area. Off-season ( Mid-November-Late March ) is rarely flat because of the Southern Ocean’s ability to produce constant swells in the 2-6ft (0.6-2m) range. Cross-shore winds are the rule as Lampung means “place of the southerly winds”. The SE trade-season starts in May with mild winds getting stronger towards the end of the season in October. NW winds dominate the rest of the year. If you don’t mind the heavens opening up on you on occasions and enjoy the thrill of finding your own secluded spot the Off-season is certainly worthwhile plus the discounted rates we offer. Check out our surf forecast.

The biggest swells generally hit around July-August.

We can cater for up to 28 guests at any one time.

We always recommend going in and out of Jakarta. It’s just easier to get a connecting flight to Bandar Lampung from there.

We have a couple of options to choose from. If you know your ways around Indonesia then grab a flight from Jakarta to Bandar Lampung. Garuda, Lion Air and Sriwijaya Air all have daily flights to Bandar Lampung from Jakarta. Check our booking page for more details and options. We do runs to Bandar Lampung airport on most days. We generally like to leave Bandar Lampung to head down to the resort around mid afternoon so if you can try to arrive by then. If you need help to get here and can’t be bothered with the hassle of organizing flights and accommodation in Jakarta then our Full Service Package is for you .

We are situated right on Ujung Bocur so just pick up your board and get amongst it. There are many other quality breaks along the coast. So if it’s not happening here chances are it’s on somewhere else. Best way to get around is on a scooter with a board rack. Scooter hire is available from the resort. Make sure your travel insurance covers this.

Sumatra Surf Resort is “partner friendly”. Our bungalows cater for couples and can be configured  with a queen size bed for couples. Each bungalow has its own fully enclosed Western Bathroom with mirror and hot water system. Important for the ladies!!

Our “Warung”  has a entertainment zone with pool table and poker and a chill zone which is perfect for lazing around reading one of surf mags, surfing the net,  watching  satellite TV. We have a huge range of surf movies playing continuously plus we stream the WSL. Check out our activities page for a range of day trips/activities we can organize for groups or couples. We understand that not everyone these days are carnivores. There are vegetarian options available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Please let us know when you book.

Our area has pretty good swell all year round but the most consistent swell window is April-October.

We face the longest most consistent left handed reef break in the region  UJUNG BOCOR, to many the jewel in the Sumatra surf crown on the point of Tanjung Setia. The town of Krui is about 30 km;s away. There is a ding repair shop and surf shop nearby.

Hard to answer as it’s really an individual thing but most guests bring a couple of 6’2″s and maybe a 6’10” if you want to take on the heavier waves (3 boards is the maximum).

Yes, we have a surfguide.

We have a sparkling 10m x 5m pool for our guests to relax and splash in.  Pool bar, beach deck, WiFi available.

The resort has 24 hour security and we also have guest security boxes available. When your out and about only take what you need.

We do hire fishing/snorkeling equipment but if you’re a serious “fisho” then best to bring your own.

We charge the same rate whether you surf or not. There’s heaps to do for a non surfing partner!!!

During high season our bungalows are twin share. We will try and accommodate you for a single room (if available) but there will be an additional nightly charge.

Scooters are the preferred form of transportation which you can hire at the resort on a daily basis. Make sure your travel insurance covers this.

If you were heading away down the coast with a few mates you would take boards, rashies, leggies, booties, towel, sun cream etc… Bring that gear with you plus a first aid kit, mozzie repellent, Indonesian adaptor, books or ipods/ipads.

If you want to surf all day and party all night best to stay in Bali cos it’s not Kuta down here. We like to have a good time and love a few cold beers. But we are mindful to be respectful of the local way of life here. Our place is cruisy and casual and that’s the way we like it.

There hasn’t been any reported cases in our area for quite some time. That’s not to say it doesn’t exist. Best to talk with your Doctor about Malaria and any other concerns you have prior to coming. Taking precautions here is the smart way to go. Cover up at dusk and use mosquito repellant

There are Doctors in town which can cater for minor ailments. Major Hospitals are up to 6 hours from here. Surfing accidents happen everywhere. The worst accidents are caused by carelessness riding scooters either drunk or with no helmet so take it easy. Remember your first aid kit and TRAVEL INSURANCE INCLUDING MEDI-VAC is a must.

The Krui area has something for everyone’s standard. We suggest jumping on YouTube and check out the waves if your unsure if you could handle it.

There is a “phone shop” down the road which sells sim cards and credit. We do have Wi-Fi here but remember this isn’t New York City.

Scooters are the way to go here. You can hire scooters from the resort ( with a board rack ).
